Congenital hand abnormalities are congenital defects that impact hand development and cause major issues with hand use.
Most problems are addressed at a very young age, even during pregnancy in some patients and at the age of 2 or 3 years in others, while waiting for normal hand development and function.
Surgical procedures can partially or totally repair congenital hand abnormalities. Finger deficits or excesses, hand and finger asymmetries, partial developmental malformations of the hand or forearm, finger shortness, finger adhesions (syndactyly), and other problems may be present.
Treatment should begin as soon as the kid is born and should be completed as soon as possible depending on the type of deformity.
